12.12.12 Record Day for Gretna Green
Posted by Ami Brough - December 12, 2012
Here in Gretna Green, Scotland's 'Wedding Capital' we like to make sure every day is special for our wedding couples. However, today in particular has stood out as a really special date...!
12th December 2012 (or 12.12.12) is a rare palindrome date and the last date this century where the day, month and the year all match! In fact... it seemed like a perfect date for our lovely couples to pick to mark 'their special day' and for almost 2 years now our Wedding Team here at Gretna Green and Smiths Hotel have been receiving enquiries about this date.
Many of couples agreed with the special date significance and some brides even had a chuckle, saying that "at least he won't forget our anniversary". Today, here at the Famous Blacksmiths Shop & Smiths Hotel, we've been lucky to host 20 couples and we've got some brilliant pictures of our lovely Brides and Grooms. We've even been on BBC Scotland and ITV Borders talking about this special day - how exciting!
If you have missed out on this wedding date today, don't worry as we have a great selection of wedding packages available for 2013 (although we can't do a 13.13.13 we've got a great new package launching next week so watch this space) plus there's always Valentines Day-the most romantic day of the year!
