Seeing (5) Stars in Gretna Green

It's June and it's warm and sunny - long may it continue! Today, however that's not the best news we have for everyone... We have some truly exciting news to share and we know that it's been a while since we last wrote a blog post but trust us, it is worth the wait!

We've just been accepted into the 'Scottish Visitor Attraction' Hall of Fame!!

For those of you who have visited us here in Gretna Green; either for a wedding, to stay at our 4* Smiths at Gretna Green Hotel, or just passing through, you will have probably seen our shopping complex including our Foodhall, Whisky & Gift Shop and our New Shop where you can browse great brand names such as Johnstons of Elgin, Barbour, Hunter, Lyle & Scott and some of our own Gretna Green branded items alongside a great range of tartan products! Over the last 2 years, we have been developing our visitor site here, along with our recent Courtship Maze, as well as listening to your feedback and it's paid off...

We will now be among the elite 10% of visitor attractions in Scotland with 5* status the likes of which include Edinburgh Castle and Glasgow Science Museum. It's such an honour and a great achievement and has come at a great time as our very own Gretna Green Famous Blacksmiths Shop celebrates its 300th birthday this year! Our fabulous Foodhall has even got a whole 5* to its own after being awarded this prestigious 'Tourist Shop status' - only around 7% of VisitScotland quality assured retailers are 5 Star so we're chuffed to bits! We know that much of our success has been down to you, the visitors, so from everyone here at Gretna Green, we would like to say a massive thank you to all our wedding couples, guests and visitors alike...
